Civil Engineering isn't just a field, it's a journey that proves it's worth overtime.
Hey all, I'm Er.Lekha, Technical Manager, here's my perspective about Civil Engineering, a field that shapes the world around us, so have a look on this.
When I completed my 12th grade, my dream was to pursue Engineering. I was confused about which branch to choose. I had a spark of interest in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), but one of my faculty advised me to consider Civil Engineering, saying it was a trending and promising field. Trusting his words, I stepped into the world of Civil Engineering.
During my first year, everything felt new and unfamiliar. I had no clear idea about the course, its scope, or its future. There were about 80 students in my class, and everyone believed Civil Engineering was in great demand. Slowly, as I moved into my second year, I began to understand the essence of this field — the creativity, the logic, and the satisfaction behind every structure built. Confidence started to bloom within me, and I realized that I could truly shine in this domain.
Then came the final year — the period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Rumors spread fast; people around me kept saying that there would be no job opportunities for Civil Engineering graduates. But I refused to believe that. Today, I am proud to say that many of my classmates and I are doing well and are in good positions in the field.
Now, when I look around, I notice that fewer students are choosing Civil Engineering because of the misconception that the field has no future. But the truth is quite the opposite. In my opinion, construction is a foundation of civilization — it will never fade. Buildings, roads, bridges — everything we see and use daily is a product of Civil Engineering. The world will continue to grow, and so will the need for skilled civil engineers.
Even globally, the construction industry never stops evolving. With modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and smart construction methods, the demand for talented civil engineers is only increasing.
To conclude, "Civil Engineering is not a dying field — it’s an ever-growing one". As long as humanity dreams of building, creating, and developing, Civil Engineering will remain a field of strength, creativity, and endless opportunities.
