From Confusion to Passion: My Journey in Mechanical Engineering
My Journey in Mechanical Engineering,
"Every journey starts with uncertainty, and mine was no different. What started as confusion turned out to my passion"
Hi,This is Er.K.Augustin Raj M.E., Manager, CAD CAM Engineer CADPOINT Marthandam . I am happy to share my personal experience as an Mechanical Engineer. I hope it will be interesting to read and fell free share your comments.
When I completed my schooling in Tamil medium, I had no clear idea about what to study next. Like many students, I randomly chose engineering — without any particular interest or understanding of what it really meant. I just stepped into it, hoping for the best.
In the beginning, everything felt difficult. English was a big challenge for me. I struggled to understand lectures, textbooks, and even communicate with classmates. Many times, I felt lost and even thought I had made the wrong choice. But deep inside, I didn’t want to give up. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it.
Slowly, I started learning — not just about machines, but about life. I began to love my degree, little by little. The subjects that once scared me — like thermodynamics, design, and manufacturing — started to make sense. I realized how amazing it is to create, design, and solve real-world problems through engineering.
With time, my confidence grew. I completed my undergraduate degree, and later, my postgraduate degree in engineering. Today, I am working as a Design Engineer, doing the very thing I once thought was impossible.
Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. From a Tamil medium student with no idea about higher studies, to a postgraduate engineer working in design — it has been a journey of struggle, learning, and growth.
